James Thuerwachter is a native of northern California who specializes in criminal defense in Sacramento and surrounding areas. James’s commitment to his clients is both unwavering and unequivocal. He has successfully represented individuals against a plethora of allegations including driving under the influence, drug possessions and sales, grand theft, assault and battery, and gun charges, among others. Regardless of what charges you may be facing, one thing is certain: James will fight tirelessly to ensure that your voice is heard.

Prior to founding Thuerwachter Law Group, PC, James spent six years working in government relations. He lobbied state lawmakers to influence legislation that protected construction workers, union members, and access to clean energy sources.

James also worked for a prominent nonprofit organization, where he drafted and negotiated First Amendment challenges and privacy regulations at the state and federal level. He has also prepared several amicus briefs, which have been filed in a variety of courts, including the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, federal district courts in California and Arizona, and California and Washington state courts.

James received his B.A. in Government at California State University, Sacramento. He received his J.D. from Seattle University School of Law and was a visiting student at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He is licensed to practice law in the State of California.
